Tamil Nadu Police released a woman who killed her husband in self-defence. The 41-year-old woman was released under Section 100 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which gives a person the right to defend their body when there is a threat.
The woman was living with her husband and their 20-year-old daughter when the incident took place. Her husband was reportedly addicted to alcohol and repeatedly harassed the woman demanding money to buy liquor.
On Thursday night, the husband returned home in an inebriated condition. He then allegedly tried to sexually assault his 20-year-old daughter. When the woman tried to stop him, he attacked her.
To protect herself and her daughter, the woman reportedly killed the man with a hammer. She then informed the neighbours who later called the police.
